Definition/Context (“What”)

The Basic Design and Engineering Package (BDEP) contains the necessary technical information to prepare the Type 3 cost estimate and select a contractor for executing the realisation of the opportunity. It includes a scope of work description and detailed technical data on the requirements for the new assets. It can include the owner’s instructions and procedures to be followed by the contractor during the realisation of the opportunity.

BDEP forms an essential part of the Invitation To Tender (ITT) package of the Execution contract(s) and will ultimately become a part of the contractual agreement between the owner and the contractor.

As a minimum BDEP shall cover the following Project Standard Controls:

Purpose/Intent (“Why”) BDEP documents the delivery of Front End Engineering and Design (FEED), capturing detailed technical input of the relevant disciplines and the preparation of execution via a continuous iterative process, while preserving the competitive scope as defined in Select.
