The Basis For Design (BFD) forms the foundation for the preparation of the Basic Design Engineering Package (BDEP). The BFD includes preliminary Process Flow Schemes (PFS) and Utility Flow Schemes (UFS), marked up P&ID for Brownfield scope, and details of standards and requirements to be applied. It also includes the HSSE & SP internal and external requirements for the chosen scope, including those for ALARP and tolerability from boundaries for the project scope and design. The BFD can also include the Technology Maturation Plan which is related to the opportunity As a minimum the BFD shall cover the following Project Standard Controls: |
Purpose/Intent (“Why”) | The Basis for Design (BFD) translates the Concept Select Report (CSR) into the technical basis for the project scope, by presenting the decisions taken and the requirements specified. |
