Context

Poor understanding of the regulatory framework and requirements for necessary (local) permits and consents can lead to designs that cannot be permitted or schedule delays.

Any legacy issues with the existing asset and, where applicable, the attitude of the regulator towards the asset can affect the relationship with the regulator and impact permitting.
Current and future regulations on Greenhouse Gas emission can materially impact the design and value of the project. This can be regulation in the country of operation or regulation in the intended market location.  

Activity

Identify regulatory requirements, regulatory bodies and potential challenges associated with the approval of permits and consents.

Verify any legacy issues with the existing asset and, where applicable, the attitude of the regulator towards the asset.

Evaluate current and potential future regulation around Greenhouse Gas.

Purpose

To ensure that the opportunity team understands the specific international, national and local regulatory requirements and the associated lead times involved with delivering the project.
